It’s a free lottery, which aims to raise a million dollars for charity and make one lucky person a millionaire. Everyone can help raise this money by coming and registering their support for the project, it costs nothing but a minute of your time.
It works on the premise that we can all make a difference, you don’t even have to pay any money, simply by caring enough to come and register at the website means that you are helping us to raise money for charity.
The idea is to try and raise $2 million dollars by selling 1,000,000 pixels. These are sold in 10x10 pixel boxes in which Companies can place their adverts. The price of each pixel is $2 (plus a 10% charge on all orders) and by selling all these pixels I will raise the required two million. The more people who register the more attractive it becomes to advertise, the more advertising we sell the more money we raise for charity.
If the website sells all of its adverts then I will then give away $1 million dollars to one person chosen at random from the people who have registered on the website and I will donate another $1 million to charity. This is a non-profit making venture and all proceeds go to charity.If the website is successful then $100,000 each will be donated to my five affiliated charities. These are: Sense, Peace Direct, FARM-Africa, The Institute of Cancer Research and Hope for Children. The rest of the money will be given to charities chosen by the public.
You can help me decide who receives the other half a million dollars, by voting for a charity which you think deserves to receive a donation. The five Charities with the most votes at the end of the promotion will each receive up to a $100,000.What I am trying to do is promote this lottery in a family friendly manner, in which charities, companies and individuals can advertise safe in the knowledge that the adverts alongside them will have been vetted to make sure they adhere to our guidelines.

I am 25 years of age and I come from Newcastle upon Tyne. I studied Law at Leicester University and I now live in Finchley in North London. I work as a paralegal at the Office of Fair Trading in central London, where I spend my life with my head stuck in legal books doing research and compiling evidence. I work nights and weekends on the website, which sometimes makes things difficult and means that I end up spending all of my lunchtimes on the phone.
I know very little about computers so it’s just as well I managed to convince an IT company to help me with this project. I didn’t even have a computer when I started this project so it’s been quite a steep learning curve. But I’m enjoying every minute of if it and I can’t think of a better way to spend my spare time than trying to raise money for these amazing causes.
There are so many worthy causes out there and in this website I see an opportunity to let people come together to help raise money for them. I came up with this idea for this website eight months ago and I hope that with the help of all of you that we can manage to do something amazing together. I have enjoyed every minute of managing this venture and I would love to raise $1 million dollars for charity and make this website a success.
This way, not only do I get to oversee an amazing project which I can be proud of, but I also get to have something which money can’t buy and that is a the satisfaction of helping all these amazing causes with their good works.
This is a non-profit making website, Yes, I am charging 10% extra on all payments but since I am giving away the full $2 million I need that extra 10% to cover expenses, pay the IT guys, bank charges and Pay Pal fees etc. But once I cover the costs of the project then any money left over will be donated to a charity of my choice. No, this is not a copycat website. I have seen Alex Tew’s www.milliondollarhomepage.com and I will give credit where credit is due and yes, of course he was the inspiration behind my idea. I saw his website and marvelled at the way that he had taken such an ingenious but simple idea, and with a lot of hard work put it into practice. And could you believe it, it worked as well! “Brilliant!” I thought, and like many other people, why couldn’t I have thought of that?!?
As far as www.tickettoamillion.com is concerned I would like to state that I did not copy this idea from Alex’s second website www.Pixelotto.com. I came up with the concept for this idea back in July and registered the domain name on the 18th August 2006. But as there is only me working on this project part-time, with the I.T. guys that I have managed to rope in, it has taken me the last 6 months to put it all together. Dollars are the predominant currency on the internet and as the lottery is open to the world at large I thought that a greater proportion of the public would relate to dollars rather than pounds.
Anyway giving away £508,340.00 doesn’t sound as good, does it!If you like my idea and you want to support it, then please visit regularly and tell everyone you know, friends, family etc. If you own a company or just want to advertise then buy some pixels. If you have accounts in a chat forum then why not support us by putting a link on your space.
